The short time scales and the random frequency distribution of narrowband decimetric Spikes can be heard. Their origin is not known. Their appearance is usually accompagnied by strong particle acceleration.

The spectrum was recorded with Phoenix(-I) on 1990/12/25, 09:37:05 - 09:37:17 UT , between 1000-1756 MHz, with a total integration time of 5 ms per pixel. A threshold at 2 sfu above background was subtracted. Both tempered pentatonic and proportional frequency mapping are available, the note duration is 0.1 s.
